Camie Family - St. Louis Photographer

Here's something a little different... just like the Camie family. You gotta love when a family shows up with black fadoras for their family portrait!

If you've read any of my other posts about Amy Camie, you know I love to photograph her, whether it's for one of her amazing CD's, a book cover, or to help those walking the journey of cancer. She is an amazing woman of many talents. I was honored when she asked me to photograph her family.

As I was thinking about the upcoming shoot, I had an idea for a composite using their name and shot images to set the plan in motion. Of course we did all the traditional images also, but because they are all so playful they gave me free reign to play as well.

This was a composite done in several Photoshop layers. I did not actually have the letters of their name in the studio:-)

Textures Make Me Happy

it's been sooooo long since i've blogged.

not because I haven't been thinking about it

just trying to focus a bit more.

I have been reading so many deliciously creative blogs by fellow photog girlies who

are much better at sharing than i.

i'm working on changing that and being more of a participant than a stalker.

i've been taking an e-course called "art of texture" by kim klassen.

LOVE IT!!!!

it's like getting the recipes from a great chef and trying them out in your own kitchen.

as many of you know i usually shoot people, but lately have been lurking around the garden's

of neighbors that actually know the names of their flowers.

if i followed the direction of my neighbor debbie's pointing finger correctly

i believe the first picture is of cat nip.

My 2008 Favorites

LaVerne & Kenney Engagement

You know as you get older you start to hear yourself saying "I've known him for over 20 years," or "has it really been 25 years." When you're in your 20's you obviously aren't saying that, but it seems like everyone you know has history, and for some reason the 40's to me feel like I have roots, and I like that.

I met Kenney well over 20 years ago. We've both been involved with the CityPlace properties in one way or another for that long, and I am happy to say Kenney is getting married. Kenney has the ability to laugh with his whole body in kind of a humble swagger.

He is adored by many for many reasons, but his genuine friendliness tops the list. We watched Kenney and LaVerne fight one of the longest, hardest battles with cancer and come out the winner. For that we give you a great big. Congratulations.

I am honored to shoot your engagement and your upcoming wedding.

We thought it would be fitting to shoot at CityPlace since we have spent so much time there over the years. We started off by CityPlace One.

It is alwasy landscaped so beautifully and we were enjoying a beautiful spring day. It didn't take long for LaVerne and Kenney to get into the fun of posing.

As we walked and talked I learned that they would play kissy face if I asked, but it wasn't long before I didn't have to ask.

We had a marvelous time, and I am looking foward to their wedding. Best wishes to you both!!!!

Beautiful Barista

As Chuck says, I have a love hate relationship with my computer. I am currently in love with my workhorse of a laptop, and at odds with my honker 24" iMac, because it has spent way too much time on repair desks.

I am currently enrolled in a Fashion Photography course, and after completing the shoot for my second assignment, my computer crashed and this assignment is currently sitting in my computer on some Mac Genius' repair desk. So where does one go when you are in a stressful situation... Your local barista of course. I met Julie at Starbucks and she graciously offered to model for me. Here is one of my favs from her shoot. I'm gradally editing more to appear in her proof gallery so be sure to check it out.

The Sushi Shoot

As many of you know we LOVE sushi. Since before Sophia was born Chuck and I have found a home away from home at Bentos Ricky & Rachel our sushi friends have just added a new addition to the family Baby Elijah

Rachel brought all four children over for a photo shoot. Unfortunately it decided to rain, but it made for a moody, dramatic shoot. Nathan wasn't to hip on getting his picture taken but I just fell in love with this one.

Don't miss seeing more of friends from Bento's family, especially Jade and Paige, their beautiful girls.

Jack Jack

My friend Laura brought her son Jack over for some photos. What a great little model. He was very happy to explore the pond and tried to climb in a couple times. His mom and dad brought his tractor along and that made for some fun shots.

He enjoyed his bibs for a while but when it was time for them to come off he let us know.

Sophia woke up from her nap to find a new playmate. It's amazing how early they learn to be coy.
